Grid but full length

I see many of your themes have a grid view. I was wondering if a category have a uneven set of nodes, can I make it so that either the first or last node are stretched to the entire column?

It looks awful with large empty spaces in grids.

This is what normally the node design makes or do you mean something else? a screenshot will be helpful.
